Breast augmentation surgery, also known as augmentation mammoplasty, or breast implant surgery is a cosmetic surgery to increase breast size using breast implants. Breast enlargement surgery is one of the most popular cosmetic procedures in Australia.
Implants come in round or teardrop shapes. Round implants have equal projection on the top and bottom, whereas teardrop implants have a gentle slope that is closer to the shape of a natural breast.
Implants can be placed through an incision around the nipple, in the crease of the breast or through the armpit. Dr. Rizk will suggest the most suitable breast augmentation incision placement based on several factors, including the type of implant being used.
Yes, this is an option you can discuss with Dr. Rizk. Breasts can be augmented with fat from the tummy or another part of the body. While fat grafting gives a more natural feel, it can’t increase cup size as dramatically as implants can.
This method is not recommended for all women, however, because it produces much more subtle results than conventional breast augmentation. In some cases, fat transfer can be used to enhance breast augmentation with implants to make sure the results are symmetrical and full.
The results of breast augmentation develop in stages. Immediately after your procedure, your breasts will be swollen, making them look larger than they are. You’ll be able to see your actual breast size four to six weeks after surgery, once this swelling subsides.
Your breasts will continue to change for up to six months following breast augmentation surgery. At first, your breasts will look higher and rounder than you expected. As your implants descend fully into the breast pocket and the tissue around them expands, your breasts will take on a more natural slope. This process is sometimes called “dropping and fluffing.”
