Liposuction is a surgical procedure that removes localised fat deposits. Regardless of your age or background, some of us can’t seem to shift some areas of fat even with a healthy diet and regular exercise. Unfortunately, that’s just how our bodies are built.

Liposuction can remove fatty deposits in these areas. Common places to get liposuction are the stomach, hips, buttocks, thighs, and arms.

So, how long does liposuction last? That’s the question that we’re looking at today. To start answering this question we need to first think about what liposuction actually does. Traditionally, liposuction first breaks up the fat cells in your body, and then sucks it all out. This removes fat cells from the treated area.

Now, here’s the thing. If your weight stays stable, the fat cells removed from the treated area do not grow back. However, results vary between individuals and depend on maintaining a stable weight.

Now what many people don’t care to think about is if they put on weight again. If you put on weight in your belly, and that’s what you had liposuctioned out… Well let’s just say that if you put on weight again it’s probably going to go to your belly again. That’s just how our bodies work – some of us store fat in some places, and some of us store fat in others. So if you put on weight, you’re going to have fat cells grow in your belly again. If it gets out of hand then you might need to have lipo in the area again, despite the diet and exercise.

The best way to avoid having lipo again then is to maintain your figure as best that you can.
