If you are considering combined breast surgery and abdominoplasty after having children, there are some important questions to ask your surgeon first.
Should I combine procedures?
If you’re considering combined breast surgery and abdominoplasty, ask your surgeon which procedures are appropriate for you. Combining procedures can mean a single recovery period, but a longer operation can increase some risks, such as blood clots. Ask your surgeon whether combining procedures is suitable for you and what the risks are.
What happens if I have another child?
This is a popular question with mums when it comes to their combined breast surgery and abdominoplasty procedures. Generally, women who are undergoing combined breast surgery and abdominoplasty are quite certain they won’t’ have any more children, however, you don’t really know what could happen down the track! If you become a mum again then your body will go through the same sort of changes as last time you were pregnant. If you’re planning on having more kids still, it might be better to hold off on surgery until you’re done. If you have an unplanned baby in the future, you may need further surgery.
How long before I’ll be able to go back to work?
If you’re a working mum (and many of us are!), then it is a good idea to ask how long it will be before you can return to work, especially if you are relying on your income to help pay the bills. Depending on the procedures that you have done, time off work is often several weeks or more, depending on the procedures; Dr Rizk will advise.
How long before I’ll be able to pick my kids up and play with them properly?
If your children are still young, then you already know that they can be a handful – or an armful! Depending on the type of surgery that you have, though, you might need to take things pretty easy for a bit. Ask your surgeon when you can have full play and carrying responsibilities again.
